Favourite SPF Products!

Finding an SPF which is non-comedogenic (doesn’t block your pores), wears well under make up, is oil free, cruelty free, budget friendly AND reef friendly (for the eco-conscious among us) is no mean feat.
I wasn’t aware how difficult it would be to find one that ticks all these boxes until I ventured down the rabbit hole and found myself completely lost before emerging hours later (felt more like days) with the discovery of Ultrasun! I read hundreds of reviews on all the different products they sell and decided to go for SPF30 Face sunscreen - and can honestly say it was worth the time investing and money spent on buying it!

Reasons for Loving Ultrasun SPF30

Ultrasun SPF30 is all of the above - designed for delicate skin on the face, it protects the skin from UVA (ageing), UVB (burning) and blue light. It is lightweight, fast absorbing and I LOVE it under my make up because you can’t tell it’s there! Some SPFs have a tendency to leave white cast however I don’t feel like this one does and as I have super pale skin SPF 30 is the minimum I’ve been told I should be using!

To save you time researching SPF yourself, I wanted to share with you the reasons why I love this product!

Non-Comedogenic / Oil free

As someone who suffers from acne-prone skin it’s always important to me that products (especially sunscreen) are non-comedogenic so they don’t block pores and cause breakouts. Unfortunately the majority of sunscreens aren’t designed this way, which is another reason I love this product.

Cruelty Free and Vegan

From what I’ve read, all Ultrasun products are vegan other than their lip balm as this contains beeswax. I believe them to also be cruelty free however I’ve only found one article to support this (on www.stylishlyvegan.com) - on the contrary I haven’t found anything to contradict it either!

Budget Friendly

Ultrasun SPF30 is £22 for 50ml. There are other brands I would love to try too (for the same reasons as Ultrasun) which I’ve included below although these are priced considerably more at almost double the price. They look amazing and have great reviews so I’d like to try them in future and hope to review them sometime!

Reef Friendly

Some sunscreens contain ingredients which can be harmful to marine life and coral reefs. These ingredients are commonly found in/recognised as the chemical filters which are used to absorb the UVA and UVB rays from the sun and have been found to be a harmful cause of coral bleaching. By using a reef friendly sunscreen (on our bodies and faces) we can help prevent unnecessary harm to marine ecosystems.

TOP TIP

Apply your SPF to clean, toned skin. My typical morning skin care routine consists of cleansing, toning, applying serum, moisturiser and THEN my SPF. I allow it to settle on my face for about 10/20 minutes before applying my make up. If you're not wearing make up and just want to use SPF it's usually recommended to apply it approximately 20 minutes before sun exposure.

Alternative SPF Products

I would love to try these two face SPF products and hope to do this and leave a review sometime! They have great reviews from users and tick most (if not all) of the requirements above too!

Good to Know

A moisturiser or foundation containing SPF invariably only protects from UVB - not UVA - In my opinion it's best to buy a sepearate SPF to your moisturiser or foundation to protect you from UVA and UVB.

I hope this helps when it comes to choosing an SPF suitable for your skin and concerns! If you have any questions or have tried any of these products yourself I’d love to hear your reviews :)
